Position Summary
The Junior Electromechanic Technician supports the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of electromechanical systems within the airport facility. This role assists in ensuring that critical airport systems—such as baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, elevators, HVAC systems, generators, and fire prevention systems—operate safely and efficiently. Working as part of the maintenance team, the Junior Electromechanic Technician will assist Senior technicians in maintenance activities while developing hands-on technical skills and gaining experience in airport infrastructure systems. The role reports to the Maintenance Duty Manager.

Key Responsibilities: 

Maintenance Execution and Troubleshooting: 
• Perform preventive maintenance, testing, inspections, and basic troubleshooting of electromechanical systems mainly baggage handling systems, conveyor belts, passenger boarding bridges, elevators, generators, fire prevention systems, and HVAC equipment.
• Perform diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic faults in airport equipment with the help of Senior Technicians.
• Work in collaboration with Senior Technicians on repairs, adjustments, and component replacements as directed by senior maintenance personnel.
• Learn to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals to support troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
• Participate in equipment testing, calibration, and adjustments to maintain proper system performance.
• Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and aligned with airport operational requirements.

System Monitoring and Inspections 
• Perform routine inspections of electrical and mechanical systems to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
• Support monitoring and testing of critical airport infrastructure to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Perform with asset tagging and documentation for newly installed airport equipment.
• Participate in condition monitoring activities and report irregularities to senior technicians or supervisors.

Documentation and Reporting 
• Record maintenance activities such as inspections, repairs, and replacements using the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
• Report equipment issues, malfunctions, or abnormal conditions to supervisors.
• Follow maintenance procedures, checklists, and standard operating practices.

Safety and Compliance 
• Follow all local, provincial, and federal safety regulations and airport safety policies.
• Comply with Lockout Tagout (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) procedures.
• Participate in safety training sessions and inspections.
• Maintain a strong safety-first mindset in all tasks.
• Assist in responding to maintenance emergencies when required.
 
Teamwork and Continuous Learning 
• Work collaboratively with maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors.
• Assist with spare parts organization and basic inventory tracking.
• Participate in training and skill development programs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications 

• Diploma, DEP, or technical certification in Electromechanics, Electrotechnology, Industrial Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant technical or maintenance experience (internship, apprenticeship, or industrial maintenance experience considered an asset).
• Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
• Willingness to obtain an Apprentice Card for Licence CE is required.

Basic Knowledge In 
• Electrical and mechanical systems such as motors, control panels, and hydraulic components.
• Conveyor systems, elevators, baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, dock levelers, and automatic doors (training provided).
• HVAC systems, power generation equipment, and fire protection systems.
• Basic plumbing is considered an asset.

Skills 
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation (training provided).
• Familiarity with CMMS or Enterprise Asset Management system (EAM or similar) is an asset.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment including evening and alternating weekend shifts.
• ASP Construction Card is an asset.

Working Conditions 
The Junior Electromechanic Technician works in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
The role may involve:
• Working at heights (roof access, scissor lifts).
• Standing, climbing, crawling, and lifting equipment or parts.
• Evening shifts and alternating weekends.
• Emergency response for operational issues such as power outages or equipment failures.

This is a full-time onsite position supporting 24/7 airport operations, including holidays if required. As part of a small maintenance team, the technician is expected to assist across multiple maintenance activities while gaining practical experience.
